M.Sc. in Computer Science Technologies (University of Cagliari - Italy), Ph.D in Computer Science (University of Compiègne - France). With 16 years of experience, member of CRS4's ISOC (Informatoin SOCiety) group, since 2000. He spent the first couple of years working in the field of distributed applications. After that, he spent 4 years working for a research project (EU V FW IP) looking to understand the inclusion of visually impaired pupils in mainstream education. As side projects, he was involved in research on peer-to-peer systems and semantic distributed knowledge bases. In 2002, he started a collaboration with the UTC's Heudiasyc laboratory. Since then, he has been conducting independent and collaborative research in information retrieval, ontology engineering and Web of Data. He has been continuing along the same path, while extending his work to the study of Sensor Networks and IoT. In 2015, he spent one month as Visiting Researcher within the Department of Advanced Robotics at the CIT (Chiba Institute of Technology) in Japan, and in 2016, within the Lincoln Centre for Autonomous Systems (L-CAS),University of Lincoln (United Kingdom), conducting research in the fields of Semantic Sensor Networks and Robotics. He is leading several industrial collaborations with local SME and start-ups. He collaborates with the main public transport company based in Cagliari, CTM S.p.a. (Consorzio Trasporti e Mobilità), on technology transfer activities. He serves as a reviewer in several major Computer Science conferences and journal scientific committees. He has been the initiator and developer of several software prototypes. Among them, “Semantic Twitter”, an adapted Twitter interface able to post tweets with the concept of semantic hash tag, and “Semantic IoT”, an architecture combining semantics and IoT based on Paraimpu, an IoT platform developed by a local start-up. He is member of DART International Workshop steering committee, on information filtering and retrieval, in collaboration with the University of Cagliari and the University of Bari.

Entando (2016 - Present, RAS Project)

A new Smart User Experience Platform oriented to Internet of Everything (IoE), facing challenges of new communication paradigms based on Nexus of Forces (Social, Mobile, Cloud e Information). Role and responsibilities: Project Manager.

CagliariPort 2020 (2014 - Present, MIUR Project)

General methodology for managing the interface between the city of Cagliari and the Port system in terms of logistics hubs. The project aims at solving the problems of integration of the three main hubs: the metropolitan area of Cagliari, the industrial port (goods), the historic port (passengers). Role and responsibilities: Coordinator of Open Data activities.

ANDASA (2014 - 2015, RAS Project)

Focuses on Scientific Knowledge and Training in artistic, cultural and creative industries context, to bring out the huge amount of potentially valuable data, often not enough valued, arising from networks of knowledge and innovation. The project aims at developing a web platform for the capitalization of knowledge in the cultural and artistic fields for creative industries. Role and responsibilities: chief architect.

Cagliari2020 (2013 - Present, MIUR Project)

Proposed by a partnership comprehending public and private organisms of the South Sardinia for the development of ICT technologies aimed at optimizing the usage of the “city system” and improving the quality of life for those who work and/or live in the city. Role and responsibilities: research on innovative solutions for mapping urban mobility data on Business Intelligence platforms.

Soundtracker GDWS (2013 - 2014, Industrial collaboration)

Originated from the experience of the platform SoundTracker (www.soundtracker.fm), the "Geo-referenced Social Web Radio", one of the first Social Music Services. The users and their interactions with the system SoundTracker generate a huge amount of data in relation to musical preferences, geographical locations, behaviours related to the place where people listen to music. The project intends to link consistently techniques of Business Intelligence (tools for data warehousing and OLAP) with GIS, in order to obtain an efficient Geographical Data Warehouse GDW OLAP. Role and responsibilities: Project Manager.

GRIDA3 (2006 – 2010, MIUR Project)

An interdisciplinary project designed to provide a holistic description of environmental problems and practical answers to questions of central importance, the project has produced an advanced problem solving tool for the integration, through a computing portal, of human know-how, simulation software, instrumentation and resources for data communication, storage, visualization, and computation. Role and responsibilities: design and development of ICT solutions for advanced modelling and geochemical data analysis for subsurface hydrology & water resources management.
